"I enjoy the duality within Beauty and the Beast and the mirror it presents to us as humans. This is one work in a small series I made based on this tale. I am fond of Jean Cocteau’s film, La Belle et la Bête. Its fantastic imagery has been an inspiration on many of my works over the years. Another overarching influence on my work are the writings of Angela Carter. In her story, The Tiger’s Bride, a loose retelling of Beauty and the Beast, the tiger licks the flesh from Beauty to reveal the beast beneath.
