Carpathian "Wanderlust" 7"EP available now!!!
Carpathian's new 7"EP "Wanderlust" is available now! No Pre-order! No waiting! Also comes with an instant Digital Download!

After two years of touring the world, Carpathian have returned with their most soulful and pensive effort to date, the "Wanderlust" 7"EP. Recorded in their home of Melbourne by Drew Parsons, the effort was shipped over to the states where Jay Mass ("Isolation" engineer) handled the final mixing duties.

From the first ringing notes, it's apparent that Carpathian have grown into a darker and more reflective band since the release of "Isolation". Crushing opener "Wanderlust" clutches a potent musical weight and grit that is a true progression Carpathian. While "Iron Heart" screams with emotion, ultimately becoming blatantly heavy without being remotely predictable. The nearly epic "Monochrome" shows why less can be more in contemporary heavy music. With Carpathian allowing their newly discovered discordant guitar work swell and build throughout this memorable melancholy anthem.

Altogether "Wanderlust" is a special effort. Not an EP placeholder between albums, but the sound of a band searching for their own unique collective voice. Within that, Carpathian, whether conscious of it or not, are becoming something truly special in the process.

Horror Show "Notes From The Night That Never Ended" 12"LP available now!!!
Horror Show's new 12"LP discography "Notes From The Night That Never Ended" is available now!!! No Pre-order! No waiting! Also comes with an instant Digital Download!

"Notes From The Night That Never Ended" is the final vinyl collection of all existing Horror Show recordings.

"We (Horror Show) started playing around 2000. It was a good time cause' Josh, Matt, and myself finally started having a knack for writing music together after playing in a couple punk and hardcore bands... We really enjoyed the thought of leaving Philadelphia as often as possible and touring was always our ultimate goal. As time marched on I found myself in a bit of trouble and inevitably we would have to put Horror Show on hold for 2 years. It was tough to leave behind something that meant so much to us and our friends and those years would prove to be more unforgiving than any of us would have ever thought. With the death of Dan (Stone) and Josh (Tshirlig), within just two years of each other, too many legs had been kicked off of our table and we put the band to rest... Yeah, I think it will always be meaningful to all of our friends. It will always remind me of what unique goodness can come out of something that sometimes, is not so good."

Deathcast #27 - The Blacklisted Special: Exclusive interview, new song premier
The 27th edition of the Deathwish Podcast is here: The Blacklisted Special.

This time around J. Bannon spoke exclusively to Blacklisted vocalist/lyricist George Hirsch. This is George's first interview since the release of their much discussed "No One Deserves To Be Here More Than Me" album earlier this year.

We also take a look back Blacklisted's entire discography, playing select songs from each of their Deathwish releases.

Last but not least, we end this edition with a brand new song from Blacklisted titled "It's All Going Down". So yeah, kick back and get into it, it's pretty awesome.

Bitter End "Guilty As Charged" CD/LP out now!!!
Bitter End are an intense hardcore band from San Antonio, Texas, influenced by the metallic New York Hardcore bands of the late 80's and early 90's. With their exhaustive touring and their debut 7"EP "Mind In Chains", they established themselves as a brute force in the hardcore community. Refining their mid-tempo power displayed in their previous release, Bitter End took it to the next level with their debut album, "Climate of Fear". Tight production accentuated song after song, creating a controlled chaos few bands could ever achieve. They soon after followed this album with a three song "Self Titled" 7"EP. A release that displayed a band evolving and refining their technical ability and song writing power.

2010 brings us "Guilty As Charged", the pummeling new album from Bitter End. With all the makings of a contemporary hardcore classic, "Guilty As Charged" bruises and batters with dynamic riffing, potent vocals/lyrics, and bone shaking breakdowns. Songs like "Unjust" and the title track "Guilty As Charged" showcase this hybrid brand of hard hitting thrash and hardcore. A tried and tested formula that Bitter End not only embrace, but continue to improve upon in their own vicious way.

Check out Bitter End's set from Sound And Fury!

United Nations "Never Mind The Bombings..." 7"EP out now!!!
United Nations is a frantic and frenetic hardcore/punk band.

Originally rumored to be a project founded by veterans from Thursday, GlassJaw, Converge and more, United Nations' existence and subsequent recordings have been cloaked in confusion since their rumored inception. On the heels of the release of their debut full length on the Eyeball label in 2008, the United Nations Organization (UNO) shut down the band's pages on Social networking sites worldwide. The band was also forced to alter their debut album's cover, sighting retail stores refusal to carry the title with controversial artwork. This informational blackout further added to the aura of mystery surrounding the band, allowing them to grow stronger amidst the chaos.

2010 brings the release of "Never Mind The Bombings, Here's Your Six Figures", the second alleged release from the band. "Nevermind..." is a spastic and violent four song explosion that brings to mind the bygone days of the mid-1990's "screamo" sub-genre. A poignant musical missile meant to sink today's safe and predictable musical establishment.

End of a Year "You Are Beneath Me" CD/LP out now!!!
Your favorite band’s favorite band, Cohoes New York’s End of a Year enjoys a distinct renown within the punk community. Well-respected and critically lauded but difficult and idiosyncratic, the band has done things their way almost to a fault. Eschewing sing-alongs and easy anthems in favor of personal lyrics, End of a Year stands apart from their contemporaries in punk and hardcore. Their strangely tense guitar-work framed within otherwise hook laden songs lends the band an unmistakable sound. Opting to be heavy in emotional rather than heavy in sound.

After first gaining attention through a full-length on seminal hardcore label Revelation Records, End of a Year took to the 7”EP format with a rare zeal. The result was EP’s and splits from a dozen labels in half-a-dozen countries. Genuinely uninterested in genres and expectations, End of a Year released these records on a wide variety of labels while touring the world over.

Building on the post everything sound they’ve continued to pioneer, End of a Year returns to the full-length format with boundless creative energy. “You Are Beneath Me” is the band’s most focused work to date. Expanding greatly on the recent 7"EP material they’ve built their name on. Dense and anxiety-ridden, “You Are Beneath Me” approaches punk in a hyper-personal and singularly artistic manner. Not afraid to be confrontational, honest, and pure in every way. Proving that End of a Year continue to be a true breath of fresh air in today's independent music world.

Starkweather "This Sheltering Night" CD/LP out now!!!
Starkweather was formed in 1989 with founders Todd Forkin on guitar, Harry Rosa on drums, and Rennie Resmini on vocals. Even in their embryonic stage their unique collective vision was lethal. Starkweather's progressive metal precision, Hardcore grit, and Avante Garde experimentalism coalesced into one awe inspiring musical force. After releasing a demo cassette through the then fledging tape trading circuit, Starkweather unleashed their 1991 debut album "Crossbearer" onto the masses. The release became an instant crossover classic, exerting far reaching influence over the hardcore/metal world of the day. "Crossbearer" paved the way for the hardcore/metal hybrids that dominate today's music community, ultimately changing the course of heavy music as we know it.

Throughout the nineties, sporadic live shows and hard to find 7"EP/Split releases and compilation appearances only added to their ever growing mysterious aura. All of it fuel to the flames of fanaticism for their followers. In 1995, Starkweather surfaced again to release their "Into The Wire" album on the Edison Recording label (also early home to Coalesce, Overcast, Converge, and more). The release once again cemented the band's reputation as visionaries, delving deeper musically and lyrically than any bands before them. Soon after they released a sought after split 7"EP with Season To Risk, and even contributed a track to the celebrated "Definitely Not The Majors" compilation before entering into a hibernation, or so it seemed...

For nearly a decade, Starkweather flew just below the radar. More importantly they flew below the metallic hardcore explosion that was taking place on the grid. Not interested in running with any pack or being part of any scene, Starkweather veered and ventured out into the darkness, alone. Like the animal they are, Starkweather would still need to feed. The band made occasional live show and festival appearances before unleashing their stunning "Croatoan" album on the Candlelight and Hypertension labels in 2006. The album was ultimately celebrated by fans of all sub-genres of heavy music and considered one of the best of 2006 by countless critics worldwide.

Now after four long years, Starkweather have emerged from the darkness to bring you their latest full length opus "This Sheltering Night". "This Sheltering Night" is a dizzying eleven song journey of unimaginable metallic twists and turns, Featuring mesmerizing soundscapes from Sophia Perennis and Oktopus (dalek) alongside traditional Starkweather efforts, "This Sheltering Night" is as brutal and as dynamic as aggressive music can be. Songs like "Broken From Inside" roll and mutate from crushing metallic riffs and into the serene. While songs like "Epiphany" and "Martyring" show a band as a giant at the height of their complex musical and lyrical power.

Without question, after 20 years of progression and isolation, Starkweather stand alone as the heavy music world's true apex predator.

Integrity "The Blackest Curse" CD/LP out now!!!
Integrity have been surrounded by myth, controversy, and legend for much of their almost 20 year existence. Along with fellow Cleveland monsters Ringworm, they are responsible for laying the foundation for metallic hardcore as we know it. Not only dictating, but literally defining the wave of musical darkness that continuously influences those at the forefront of the aggressive music scene. You can hear their direct influence in bands like Rot In Hell, Rise And Fall, Converge, Hatebreed, and more.

After releasing classic albums on other labels, Integrity triumphantly returned to the spotlight in 2003 with their "To Die For" CD on Deathwish. "To Die For" recording was a true reclamation of the throne for the band. Produced and engineered by Ben Schigel (Ringworm, Mushroomhead), the collection of eight blood boiling songs served as a musical progression, all the while embracing the approach of their influential past.

After the release of "To Die For", Integrity toured Europe and the United States, eventually falling into a sort of restless hibernation. From that point on they only surfaced for the occasional festival or "one-off" show appearance. All of that changed two years later when Dwid Hellion assembled his new incarnation of the band featuring both Jochum brothers (Mike now being joined by Nate on drums), as well as "To Die For" era bassist Steve Rochourst (Ringworm, etc.). Soon Integrity began crafting ideas for what was to become "The Blackest Curse". The process was methodical and slow going, with members being divided between two continents. However after years on end of refining the material, the fiends convened in Belgium and began laying down tracks for the album. Though these initial sessions were a creative success for Integrity, due to time limitations they were left incomplete, forcing the material to lay dormant.

Fast forward to 2008; Integrity once again woke from their slumber, this time to tour Europe alongside longtime friends Converge, and Coliseum. This tour introduced the band to a whole new generation of aggressive music listeners. Following this momentum, the band then released their "Walpurgisnacht" 7"EP on A389/Magic Bullet Records. As importantly, this stirring also rekindled the fire under "The Blackest Curse" project, with vocalist Dwid Hellion recording the final vocals for the album in his home studio.

And now almost five years later, the curse has finally been cast..."The Blackest Curse" is the new album from legends, Integrity.

A ten headed beast of an album, "The Blackest Curse" is arguably the most cohesive Integrity release of the last fifteen years. With the first crushing chords of "Process of Illumination" it's apparent that Integrity are back in true form, following the metal/hardcore hybrid blueprint they forged themselves over two decades ago. The blitzkrieg bombardment of songs like "Learn To Love The Lie" and "Through The Shadows of Forever" is unrelenting, while speed demons like "Simulacra" and "Spiderwoven" are as uniquely frenzied as a metallic hardcore can get. It's not all aural brutality though, as "The Blackest Curse" proves that the root of their evil can morph into all shapes and sizes. Songs like "Before The World Was Young" and "Take Hold of Forever" showcase Integrity's trademark melodious moments as well as their dark experimental tendencies.

With "The Blackest Curse" Integrity never stray from their chosen artistic path. And like the few other legacy bands in existence (Motorhead, etc.), they don't ever need to. Their formulaic cohesive vision is why "The Blackest Curse" is truly another brilliant album, adding to their intriguing and bizarre legacy. A reign that still, after over twenty years, continues to demand a cult like devotion that is "Holy Terror" to the very core.

Acid Tiger (Converge, United Nations) "Self Titled" CD/LP out now!!!
Acid Tiger are a Brooklyn based progressive rock/punk hybrid, featuring Converge/United Nations drummer Ben Koller, and guitarist Lukas Previn (United Nations, Thursday, The A.K.A.s) among their ranks. With an energetic sway and swagger Acid Tiger effortlessly meld together a wide variety of tested influences into one truly unique and awesome animal.

Recorded and engineered by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios, Acid Tiger's self titled debut is about as eclectic and vibrant as they come. Drive Like Jehu/Hot Snakes vocal sass, All/Descendents influenced fretboard gymnastics and drumming, and the soulful darkness of The Cult and Murder City Devils are all apparent in their collective roar. All of it executed with a passion and fervor that is inspiring, captivating, and dare we say, fun?

Out now: Doomriders "Darkness Come Alive" CD/LP, getting rave reviews!!!
Doomriders "Darkness Come Alive" CD/LP is out now and getting some great reviews.

If you haven't heard this album yet, perhaps the words below will sway you into making a great decision and buying this amazing record.

"Truly a high watermark for the band, the way Doomriders are now able to mix their doom, gloom and rage in such a volatile, yet evenly keeled path is wholly impressive."
- Wookubus, Theprp.com

"Although there was no denying that Doomriders would deliver a worthwhile release when they eventually found the time to make a new album, I have to admit that Darkness Come Alive took me completely by surprise. Doomriders have taken the potential hinted at on their debut album and expanded upon it on Darkness Come Alive, and in the process delivered one of 2009’s unexpected killer releases that’s sure to be listed as one of my favourites for the year."
- Justin Donnelly, Blistering.com

"There’s really something for every metalhead to identify with on Darkness Come Alive."
- Gary Suarez, Metalsucks.net

"If you have any sort of neck, Darkness Comes Alive will force movement out of your head –- in an up and down motion, whether you want to move it or not. Because like all good metal, it courses through your veins with a mind of its own."

Jay comments on Reign Supreme adding 2nd guitarist, summer tour news, etc.
Reign Supreme recently added Kevin White to their line-up on second guitar. White has previously played guitar in Rise Against and handled vocals for With Honor. The addition of a second guitar player comes just in time for their summer tour that starts in late July.

When asked about their new member, frontman Jay Pepito had this to say;

"We are very excited to announce that weve selected a second guitarist! His name is Kevin 'Whitey' White, and he hails from the great city of chicago. I first encountered kevin when i was 16, and his band IN TRUTH played the casino skatepark in nj. Been in love with IN TRUTH ever since and a huge fan of RISE AGAINST as well. Kevins love of the chicago bulls, metallica, and headbanging made this an easy choice. Kevin will be touring with us and playing all of our upcoming tour dates, as well as helping us with the riffage on our new album. We are also making tentative plans for a second euro tour, sometime this winter."

108 "18.61" CD/LP in stores now!!!
108 "18.61" CD is in stores now.
Order now in the DW Estore!!!

"18.61" comes from the 61st couplet of the 18th section of Bhagavad Gita.

Ishvarah sarva-bhutaanaam, hridesh-'rjuna-tishthati
bhraamayan sarva-bhutaani, yantra-rudhaani maayayaa

Which means:

"The controller of all
Lies at the heart of the machine
And connects it's wires
To the living being who is under it's spell."

Recorded over a frigid weekend in Boston, MA in the analog domain of Alex Garcia Rivera (ex-Give Up The Ghost) and later mixed by Kurt Ballou (Converge), 108 have returned with their most electrifying and intense album to date, "18.61". From the first tension filled notes struck in "God Talk", it's apparent that a spiritual restlessness and awareness continues to writhe in the collective consciousness of 108 which is an attribute that has set them apart from the rest of the musical world since their inception. From there "18.61" pounds forth with the upmost intensity. Standout track "Crescent Moon" races at manic speed before crashing in on itself in one of 108's heaviest moments ever. Title track "18.61", a moving and brooding song that is as unforgettable as they come, combines all of the unique musical qualities that make up 108. The gritty "Reduced" showcases new drummer Mike Justian (Trap Them, Unearth, etc.) as the new heart at the center of the 108 machine, rhythmically pushing the envelope with his punishing percussive power. Though the aforementioned songs are electric in every way, it's in some of the more daring tracks that "18.61" truly starts to really shine. "Mannequins" and "Forever Is Destroyed", for example, pick up where classics Black Flag and Rollins Band left off, taking frantic and unpredictable sonic turns that only a band like 108 could navigate. All of this makes "18.61" yet another stunning album from a band that continues to write their own destiny as one the most important and influential hardcore/punk bands in existence today.

The Hope Conspiracy "True Nihilist" tour wrap up, full set video from Hate5six.com
The Hope Conspiracy's world tour recently ended. From all accounts, it was a great time for the band and their supporters alike. Here is a word about the brief tour from the band:

"I would like to give a huge thanks to everyone that came out to the shows in support of us and the other bands. Especially those that braved subzero temps, driving snow and ice or torrential rain fall. Thanks to all of our friends, promoters and bands that took time to help us with rides, equipment, food, a place to crash for the night, moral support and some good laughs. We had an amazing time playing these shows and hope that we can do it again in the near future. No plans as of right now, but when it is possible we will make it happen for sure...Take care..."

Converge and The Hope Conspiracy in Taschen's "Extraordinary Records" Book
Converge and The Hope Conspiracy are both featured in Taschen's "Extraordinary Records" Book. Here's the book specifics direct from Taschen:

Any Color Except Black
The High Baroque Of Vinyl Recordings

This original collection features the most remarkable vinyl artifacts ever produced: a connoisseur's selection of records in a plethora of colors, shapes, and forms, imprinted with extraordinary effects and images. Produced in collaboration with Colors magazine, this book showcases over 500 of the most exceptional records owned by leading collectors Alessandro Benedetti and Peter Bastine. Featuring the recordings of Pink Floyd, Queen, the Beatles, Prince, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Bon Jovi and many others, these are rare and valuable records in countless designs and colors - gold, transparent, photo-printed - in a dazzling variety of shapes: butterfly, heart, star, and even a tree-shaped disc.

About the author:
Italian producer and songwriter Giorgio Moroder helped create electronic dance music, and has worked with Donna Summer, David Bowie, Janet Jackson, Barbra Streisand, and many others. He also founded Musicland Studios in Munich, once used by legendary acts like Led Zeppelin, Queen, and Elton John.

About the contributing author:
Alessandro Benedetti began collecting colored and unusual records in 1981, and now has 8,000 discs, including 1,200 colored vinyl discs. In 1998 his collection won recognition in The Guinness Book of Records. His dream is to open a record museum so he can share his collection with the public.

About the contributor:
Peter Bastine, born in 1952, has been a DJ, record seller, and concert organizer. From 1977 until 1998 he collected every kind of picture disc; since then, mostly historical 78rpm records. Today his collection comprises around 8,000 picture discs, and has been the subject of several European exhibitions.

Ressurection "I Am Not: The Discography" to surface in the future!!!
"...Within months, the sound and ideologies that dominated the hardcore scene from the mid 80's into early 1990 had literally collapsed as if an entire scene had "grown up" and gave in all at once. Looking back it should have come as no surprise. A scene that was predicated on being an individual had become as pathetically uniform as the world it claimed to disdain. It died because it no longer had a pulse.

In early 1991 a few friends decided that sound, feeling and emotion was more important than mere memories and that ideals didn't need to be confined to the sounds of the past. There were no goals, no strategies and no need to over think what could be. Ressurection set out to play as loud and as often as possible.

Musical influences? Black Flag, Bl'ast, Absolution, whatever. A message? At times straight edge, at times political and at times just hurt kids. Simply put the idea was to say what you feel and feel what you say, no limitation. Simply put Ressurection was noise and feeling.

Between 1991 and 1994 Ressurection played well over a hundred shows around the US while releasing 2 ep's, an LP and a few tracks on various compilations. The beauty of Ressurection? The sole focus on the energy of the live setting. The downside? That same sole focus on the energy of the live setting! When recording the I Refuse LP the
band was in heavy debt from touring and used all of the recording budget to pay off their debts leaving $200 to record, mix and master the record and, of course, buy them something to eat during this process. The result was not pretty. Over the years this remained a regret shared by the members of the band.

In 2007 the idea of a discography was brought up to the fine people at Deathwish Inc. and within weeks the recording reels were dusted off and Kurt Ballou completed a remix at Godcity Studios. The result is a discography entitled, "I am not: The Discography", containing remixes of all three records along with the original mixes of the first ep and initial recording of the bands first song.

Ressurection was at one time or another Robert Fish, Chris Zusi, Ari Katz, Dan Yemin, Dan Hornecker, Chris Daly, Dan Cav, Chris Corvino, Little Dave, Norman Brannon and Brian Maryansky.

These fine chaps also spent time making noise with the likes of Release, Lifetime, 108, The Judas Factor, Deadguy, Floorpunch, The Van Pelt, Kid Dynamite, Paint it Black, Texas Is The Reason, Jets To Brazil and New End Original..."

More news coming soon on the project.

Out now: Coliseum "True Quiet / Last Wave" 7"EP
Founded by Ryan Patterson (Black Cross, National Acrobat) over a half decade ago, and since solidified by Mike Pascal and Chris Maggio, Coliseum have grown to become today's quintessential contemporary hardcore/punk band. Successfully melding their progressive musicianship, punk fervor, and vital political/social awareness into one intense vision.

Originally based in straight-ahead hardcore and classic punk, Coliseum have continued to progress with each recorded effort. Before finding a permanent home on Relapse records in 2006, Coliseum released music on both Ryan's own Auxiliary label, as well as on Level Plane Records. Coliseum's first full length for Relapse, "No Salvation", was released in the summer of 2007 and was met by praise from critics and kids alike.

To celebrate the longtime friendship between Coliseum and Deathwish, we are proud to announce the release of Coliseum's "True Quiet / Last Wave" 7"EP. Featuring artwork by friend John Dyer Baizley (Baroness, Kylesa, Cursed), "True Quiet / Last Wave" gives us the first taste of Coliseum's evolution since 2007's "No Salvation". The hook laden A Side "True Quiet" takes hold with its all too familiar story of self imposed isolation, told to a dc influenced metallic jangle. While the percussively driven B Side "Last Wave" serves as a hair raising commentary on the ethical and economical darkness of our present day. Both songs collectively embodying the honest artistry that defines Coliseum at their very core.

A new Coliseum album is due out on Relapse sometime in the future...

Narrows "New Distances" CD/LP receiving great reviews!!!
Mammothpress.com:
"...Supergroups. A lot tends to be said whenever well-known musicians break away from their home-bands and collaborate with others and form so-called supergroups. Regardless of genre, fans either hate the idea or embrace it as a further projection of their favorite bands’ sound and experience.

This collaboration between bands and members tends to be a more common occurrence in the hardcore and punk genres. There are too many to list; and into this category the band Narrows can be added. The band’s pedigree reads like an all-star team of hardcore: Dave Verellen (Botch, Roy), Rob Moran (Unbroken, Some Girls), Ryan Frederiksen (These Arms Are Snakes), Jodie Cox (Tropics), and Sam Stothers (Makeout Boys, Quarantine). For the band’s debut full-length via Deathwish Inc., New Distances, each member has brought their own band’s sound into the mix and created a juggernaut of aggressive music. Upon initial listen to New Distances, there seems to be no clear agenda as to what the band sounds like. Is it hardcore? Is it punk? Is it post-Noise? Is it aggressive and heavy? The answer is a resounding yes on all accounts.

Even though all members are spread out over the U.S. and overseas, New Distances is the sound of five guys locked together in a room breaking down any and all misconceptions of heavy music. This album is angry, introspective, calming, disturbing, and countless other emotions that seem to wash over with each and every listen. It’s as if all members have taken their individual experiences and emotions in life and bands and threw them in a blender with little abandon.

It seems fitting that the album cover art is that of a hand right out of Grey’s Anatomy book superimposed on a road map transparency in front of a dark forest, because Narrows have clearly created a new blueprint of emotionally aggressive music to be followed in the hardcore genre. This band is a lot more than a “supergroup”. They are a powerhouse to be reckoned with. Narrows is a mighty Viking warrior and New Distances is the great sword they are wielding to conquer all. Fans of hardcore music will be talking about this record for a long time. Trust me on this...Rating: 9 out of 10..."

SMNnews.com:
"...When the folks at Deathwish Inc announced the signing of Narrows to their heralded roster last year, post-hardcore junkies let out a collective “fuck yes!” Featuring Dave Verellen (Botch), Ryan Frederickson (These Arms Are Snakes, Nineironspitfire), Rob Moran (Unbroken, Some Girls), Jodie Cox (Tropics), and Sam Stothers (Makeout Boys), Narrows sounds exactly like they should. The guitars, while angular, pack punch bringing to mind bands like Shellac and Jesus Lizard but the parts owe more to the hardcore and metal informed racket of their prior projects. Cox and Fredericksen stack one dissonant riff on top of the other never letting up during the band’s full-length debut, New Distances.

On tracks like "Newly Restored" and "A Restoration Effort," the band plows through the material with air-tight precision but enough looseness in certain spots revealing a "rockier" side to their style. Verellen's bark is as potent and venomous as his days in Botch but he's also introduced more clarity in his delivery which fits in nicely. The album opens with "Chambered: which encapsulates the strongest aspects of Narrows's attack in the span of a couple of minutes. From there on, New Distances doesn’t let up. The group proves throughout the album that they not only possess the technical skills to make their chaotic songs believable, they also know when to hold back and let parts breathe. That’s the kind of songwriting craft that many of the younger bands these musicians have helped influence lack. Hopefully Narrows overcome their geographical issues (members live spread out in the U.S. and the UK) and keep on creating post-hardcore this vital...8 out of 10"..."

Sputnikmusic.com:
"...Hardcore super group Narrows follows up their not amazing but promising self-titled 7” with New Distances. The band consists of guitarists Jodie Cox(Tropics), Ryan Frederiksen(These Arms Are Snakes/Nineironspitfire), drummer Sam Strothers (Quarantine/Makeout Boys), bassist Rob Moran(Some Girls/Unbroken), and vocalist Dave Verellen(Botch/Roy). If you’re looking for intensely heavy music with breakdowns and blast beats you won’t find it here. New Distances takes a very different and intelligent approach to hardcore...4 out of 5..."

Pulling Teeth "Paranoid Delusions..." receiving great reviews!!!
Decibel Magazine: "...8 out of 10"

Punknews.org:
"...4 out of 5 stars...Ultimately, this release is a total exploration of contradictions. From the title and dual covers (done as an awesome shifting hologram for the LP release) to the lyrics and music they are set to, the clash of conflicting images, literal and metaphorical, seems to echo the conflicts of reality: life and death; rich and poor; and security and adventurism. The whole works to complete a large and satisfying artistic statement..."

Sputnikmusic.com:
"..."Paranoid Delusions / Paradise Illusions" is a record that helps define Pulling Teeth as one of Deathwish’s more sophisticated bands and leaves them being viewed in the same mindset as label heavyweights like Converge, Cursed, and Integrity. The sophistication in the textural aspects on this record with the incorporation of guitar, bass and synthesizers, is both heavy and melodic as can be seen by the variety of sounds achieved on "Paradise Illusions," from its field recording introduction to its final explosion. As of now Pulling Teeth seemingly has released the best heavy record of 2009..."

Themusicalfinger:
"...Paranoid Delusions/Paradise Illusions is an album that shows a hardcore band that can do much more than play four chords and say "fuck you" a lot. Pulling Teeth is responsible for an early contender for year-end AOTY honours. A must hear..."

Hardtimes.ca:
Talk about digging deep. Is there any style these guys can’t pull off with flair? Baltimore nonconformists Pulling Teeth are going to surprise many with the direction taken on their sophomore Deathwish Inc. release, "Paradise Illusions, Paranoid Delusions," not only with the band’s clear desire to allow a wider variety of influences bleed into their trusted Discharge-meets-Slayer-meets-Motorhead form, but also with the length and overall content contained within this at times overpowering EP..."Paradise Illusions, Paranoid Delusions" is not exactly a distancing from the 'core, but it certainly is the most branching out the band has done since launching a few years ago. This is not some confused experimentalism; it's Pulling Teeth growing darker and more challenging, both lyrically and musically, than ever before. If punk and hardcore are indeed meant to shake things up within the scene, both for the sake of progression and stimulating the same in fellow artists, then Pulling Teeth are on the verge of achieving exactly that end with "Paradise Illusions, Paranoid Delusions." Artists Jeff Beckman and Jake Bannon, who respectively created and designed the packaging for this release, deserve a hand for a concept so vividly realized that it almost sells the release itself. While Romeo's far-reaching ability and creativity on guitar cannot be understated, "Paradise Illusions, Paranoid Delusions" marks the first time the Canadian-born veteran brings out doom rock and ambient textures from his bag of riffs. We must not forget that it was Romeo who literally invented Canadian deathcore with his first band, Ontario’s notorious Day Of Mourning, nearly a decade before bands like Despised Icon and Beneath The Massacre seemingly discovered the beauty of fusing hardcore and brutal death metal, and also performed live with Ringworm after the Cleveland pioneers lost Frank 3 Gun to Terror. Those expecting another “Martyr Immortal” will be forced to replay “Paradise Illusions, Paranoid Delusions” enough times to realize that their favorite band has, whether deliberately or not, inched their trade closer to a true sound of despair and emotional despondency, all the while compromising none of their integrity or appeal. Frontman and agent provocateur Mike Riley adapts impressively to Pulling Teeth’s first real foray into experimentalism, employing not only his vicious snarl but also whispers and spoken-word when called for, notably on the EP’s closer. If the music itself doesn’t lead to jaws touching the ground, the lyrics sure will. On "Unsatisfied" and "Bloodwolves," Riley is activist-minded and so determined and unfazed that it’s frightening..."

Noisecreep.com:
"...Baltimore, Maryland's Pulling Teeth is certainly pulling all the stops with their third full-length release. Collaborating key elements in hardcore, metal, and even a dash of punk this album is sure to please fans of the loud, hard, and fast..."

Lambgoat.com: "...Pulling Teeth make yet another argument for their place in the upper echelon of modern hardcore..."

Victims "Killer" CD getting great reviews, available now everywhere!!!
Aversionline.com:
"Killer" is the latest full-length from Sweden's almighty Victims, coming to the US this week from the always top-notch Deathwish Inc. Victims is one of those bands that really stood out right from the start for me, and I've been a big fan ever since. Their take on heavy and aggressive Swedish hardcore always seems to have a little more energy and memorability, and the 16 tracks in 24 minutes cranked out here only continue down that path - though with more variety and punch than ever before! The backbone is still very much the same (only a handful of the songs top two minutes, so everything's still pretty fast and in your face), but the songwriting is catchy as fuck this time around, and really does cover a lot more ground in order to provide individual identities for many of the compositions. From the 25-second blast of thrashy melody in "Try?" (which kinda reminds of me The Exploited or something); to the fiery, rocked out dual guitar bursts of "Destroy and Rebuild"; to the straight-up punk rock attack of tracks like "Holy Shit"; and of course plenty of the driving, bass-heavy Motörhead-inspired runs and classic D-beat rhythms you'd expect from such an album. It's definitely some of their finest work to date, and should absolutely please anyone who may have complained of the band's material sounding too similar from song to song in the past. Very well done…

Lambgoat.com:
"...Bottom Line: There is absolutely no surprise here. Victims' Killer is a perfect reminder of how modern crusty hardcore can still be memorable -- fans of Disfear, Perth Express, Cursed, and Trap Them will love every minute of this. And a big thanks to Deathwish for giving this record a release more accessible to stateside kids (Killer was originally put out on Finnish label Combat Rock Industry last year). This kicks ass...8 out of 10..."

SMNnews:
The folks at Deathwish Inc. do it again! This time the Massachusetts label is issuing Killer, the latest full-length from Swedish d-beat terrorists VICTIMS. Fans of Dropdead, Skitsystem, and most of the bands down with Profane Existence will absolutely lap this shit up! There’s nothing fancy here. What you get here are short, driving, and punked up songs that are economic and direct in their intent.
Johan Eriksson delivers each vitriolic lyric with the focused rage they deserve. Jon Lindquist’s guitars thrash forward like nobody’s business, bringing to mind Pete Koller’s (Sick of it All) tone. Another strength of Victims is their penchant for making this stuff still come off catchy. Songs like “No Reason” even have gang chorus parts that are instantly memorable yet absolutely crushing in the same moment. For this North American re-release of Killer, Ryan Patterson (also of the might Coliseum) hands in a classic looking layout that compliments the band’s anarchic spirit. This is the kind of fast punk that will surely also appeal to the death metal hordes...8 out of 10..."

Hardtimes.ca:
"...Not everything must be innovative to retain integrity and be artistic. Swedish hardcore crust punk veterans Victims are case in point, having had their fifth full-length “Killer” just licensed in the U.S. by Deathwish Inc., and simultaneously being on the verge of yet another wild year of bringing their Discharge-inspired hardcore punk to greater audiences worldwide. Victims are billed pretty high up at this year’s highly-touted Maryland Deathfest, an impressive feat considering the technicality of the bands they will be sharing the stage with, not to mention the fickle nature of death metal audiences. But all death metal initially came from fast, downtuned punk that Motorhead and then Discharge pioneered, so with Victims’ reputed live ferocity and buzzsaw riffing, they shouldn’t have a problem being one of the standout acts at the festival. Their sound also just got a whole lot thicker, having added prized guitarist and songwriter Gareth Smith to their lineup, formerly of the long-running UK doom sludge monsters, Raging Speedhorn. Victims fits in perfectly to Deathwish’s roster and their Swedish lineage will only help in the label’s quest of expansion into the dark, desperate undergrounds existing across the ocean, where so many of the label’s bands have wowed crowds for years. From their fitting beginning on a Discharge compilation on which they tackled “Doomsday,” to their following years releasing album after 7” on the Yellow Dog, Havoc, and Scorched Earth Policy labels, Victims have proven themselves just as worthy of the hype accorded in recent years to the Tomas Lindberg-fronted Disfear as one of the most convicted and viable nihilistic, primitive hardcore bands emanating from Europe. Musically, Victims have their feet firmly planted in the early days of hardcore and punk, whether it be the British scene of the late 70’s and early 80’s, the ensuing early-to-mid 80’s movement in New York, or the more recent but equally influential nowadays early-90’s Swedish hardcore crust/punk scene that was born shoulder-to-shoulder with the fabled Swedish death metal scene..."

"...Victims have been around for over ten years and we still love what we do. So far we have done four full length albums and we've toured all over Europe and the U.S. Talking about influences is always misleading and hard, but here's a try: We sound like, or rather think we sound like, an equal dose of swedish Discharge-influenced hardcore and early eighties american hardcore..."

Recorded at Studio Overlook and designed by Ryan Patterson (Coliseum), "Killer" is a sixteen song crust/hardcore beast, filled with driving D-Beat power and anthemic punk fervor. Each song carrying a rawness and heaviness that will surely appeal to metal, hardcore, and crust listeners everywhere.

"...Have you heard Cold World yet? Fans of straight-up hardcore (not metalcore) definitely have to check for this band. Their sonic foundation is built on the blueprint old-school NYHC groups like Breakdown, Killing Time, and Outburst first laid down twenty years ago. But on their recently released Dedicated to Babies Who Came Feet First album, Cold World fuse the groove elements that Life of Agony explored on their debut record as well as throw in some of the hardest lyrics this side of Nas. Cold World "Dedicated..." gets 4 out of 5 review from Punkbands.com
"...It seems to be a CD that always makes its way into my player.

The production on Dedicated to Babies... is very well done, very similar to typical N.Y.H.C. sounding records. Having Billy Graziadei, guitarist of Biohazard, always helps with that. With this record, Cold World defiantly push themselves into a level of hardcore that has them being remembered for years to come. This is a great full length debut for this band. I'm not counting No Omega due to the fact that it was a compilation of three different releases. I only see this band continuing to push hardcore forward into new realms..."
