Of the sixteen or so shows I've seen, my third time catching them continues to stand as not only my favorite Converge performance, but one of the best shows I've attended.
July 17, 2004 @ The Jackson Mann with Cave In, A Life Once Lost, Mi Amore and Draw Blood.
Their set featured 'Downpour,' 'This Is Mine,' and a devastating rendition of 'Jane Doe.'

You sir win today. Peste Noire is fantastic.
I have trouble with "albums of all time," but - aside what has already been mentioned - I really enjoy essentially anything by Blut Aus Nord, Deathspell Omega, and Cobalt.

As Jake said, both upstairs and downstairs of The Middle East are great for live music. Here are a few other venues to keep your eyes on. Depending on what kind of music you're into, you can find a decent amount going on.
Harper's Ferry
Great Scott
O'Briens
TT the Bear's
Unit 11
...among others.
Hope you find some decent shows, man.

ISIS: Good Night!
While bummed I'll miss their last string of shows, I'm certainly glad I had the opportunity to catch them a few times before - especially during the fantastic 10th Anniversary tour.
Thanks for the great music guys, it's been a pleasure.
Please do catch them if they're in your area! ISIS Farewell Tour Dates

Converge released these pictures on their Twitter page.

They tend to do frequent updates through it and, if you're like me and don't care to have a Twitter account but would like the updates, you can subscribe to the RSS feed.

Fourth time getting to see them and easily the best of the four. Thanks for the great show, Doomriders.

So, it looks like Thursday is headlining these shows.
Not to sound greedy, but is there any chance for a welcome-home headlining Converge show in Boston? If you guys are getting a decent set time then no no worries. I simply ask because last time I saw you guys with Thursday it was was for a benefit show at the Palladium downstairs, summer of '03, and the set was pretty quick.

Definitely like what I'm hearing so far guys, keep it up. The French black metal scene really seems to be pushing (what was) a stagnant genre forward - Blut Aus Nord, Deathspell Omega, Peste Noire - all fantastic groups with a lot to offer.

I sure hope more is posted in the future.

2009 was a pretty awful year but hot damn did it rule in terms of music. Hell, I'm pretty sure the majority of bands listed released not only great albums, but the best of their careers.
Here's looking forward to 2010.
Top Twenty-Five
01. Cattle Decapitation - The Harvest Floor
02. Mastodon - Crack the Skye
03. Thursday - Common Existence
04. Converge - Axe to Fall
05. Cobalt - Gin

Went to the Cambridge show last night for Trap Them and Narrows (while I had to leave before Cave In came on, I'm sure they did just fine...they put on great shows the two times I've caught them - The Living Room in Providence and Jackson Mann in Allston).
Quick notes:
1. New Trap Them songs are stellar, bitter, and beautiful.
2. Also, ending the set with Mission Convincers is still perfect.

I got my pre-order in the mail today and then a few hours later saw Doomriders in Allston packing up some equipment (guessing they practice there) and all of this right after seeing them at UNH.
Ah, definitely a Doomriders week.

Depending on where you live, you can expect the package a few days early. I know my Doomriders' pre-order was sent out on the 22 so it might even get here today, that's four days before the street date.

Just parked my car after two hours of searching for parking 'mongst Brighton side streets, making the trip a total of four hours.
Oh, four hours and $100 because I stopped in front of a fire hydrant at 2:40 a.m. in front of my apartment, put on my hazard lights, went inside to go to the bathroom, and then came out to a ticket...five minutes later...not contesting the issues with parking in fro

Knowing that, at some point, someone was going to get the fantastic idea to remake Halloween (heavy, heavy sigh), I'm glad Zombie did it. I think he did it more justice than a lot of other directors would have.
Now, Halloween 2: It could have been amazing. It wasn't.
Conceptually you have a great story, I like where Zombie took it...but unfortunately it reads better than it translates visua
