In their few short years of existence Modern Life Is War have grown into one of the most inspiring punk/hardcore bands the community has ever seen. Appealing to everyone from the jaded to the driven with their immeasurable heart and vigor.

Modern Life Is War formed in the sleepy midwestern railroad town of Marshalltown, Iowa in 2002. The band quickly began playing shows and touring surrounding cities, Minneapolis and Chicago supporting a self released 7"EP. It was in Chicago where they befriended Lifeline Records. Soon after, Lifeline rereleased their debut 7"EP, a record that brought the band to the attention of Deathwish, as well as the rest of the world.

In 2003, Modern Life Is War released "My Love. My Way." on Martyr/Reflections (reissued by Deathwish in 2006). The band toured the world for months on end, right into 2004, in support of this stellar release.

2005 saw Modern Life Is War pair up with Deathwish to release their groundbreaking album, "Witness".

Recorded and engineered by Kurt Ballou (Converge) at Godcity Studios in Salem MA. "Witness" was not only musical progression for the band, but artistic perfection. "Witness" was their true story of real life struggle in contemporary rural America. As importantly, "Witness" was also their artistic journey into the soul of personal rebellion. An introspective gaze into the bitter exile of their own lost generation. Lyrically captivating, musically discordant, and soulfully haunting, "Witness" was both the crowning achievement and well worn scar we all long to artistically create. Saying the words that we all wished we could say, in the name of the pain, beauty, and the hardship of living.

After the recording session, Modern Life Is War toured the world with Converge, Comeback Kid, Terror, and more. The band also experienced lineup changes, with founding member and guitarist Matt Hoffman being replaced by Sjarm (ex-Razor Crusade).

In 2006, Modern Life Is War reissued their "My Love. My Way." album on Deathwish. After their 2006 U.S. tour with Converge, they saw the departure of bassist Chris Honeck, who was later replaced by Tim Churchman (ex-Spanish Bombs).

Modern Life Is War broke up in 2008.
